Change Your iPad's Wallpaper
Make your iPad look super cool by changing the pictures on your lock screen and home screen! You can use your own photos or choose from Apple's beautiful wallpapers.
What's the difference?
Lock Screen is what you see when your iPad is locked.
Home Screen is what you see behind your apps when your iPad is unlocked.
You can use the same picture for both or choose different ones!

Using Apple's Wallpapers
Your iPad comes with lots of beautiful wallpapers already installed:
- Dynamic Wallpapers - These wallpapers have subtle movement!
- Stills - These are regular pictures that don't move.
- Live Wallpapers - These react when you touch and hold the screen.
Using Your Own Photos
You can use any picture from your Photos app as wallpaper:
- From Wallpaper Settings - Tap "All Photos" when choosing a new wallpaper.
- Directly from Photos - Open a photo you like, tap the share button (square with up arrow), and choose "Use as Wallpaper".
Cool Tip!
For the best look, choose photos that aren't too busy in areas where app icons will be. Photos of landscapes, space, or simple patterns often work great!
Adjusting Your Wallpaper
- Move and Scale - Pinch to zoom in or out, and drag to position the image just right.
- Perspective Zoom - Turn this on to make your wallpaper move slightly when you tilt your iPad. It gives a cool 3D effect!
- Dark Mode Compatible - Some wallpapers have versions for both light and dark modes, so they'll change when you switch your iPad's appearance.
Fun Wallpaper Ideas
- Family Photos - Use pictures of your family, friends or pets!
- Seasonal Themes - Change your wallpaper based on holidays or seasons.
- Motivational Quotes - Find or create wallpapers with your favorite quotes.
- Your Artwork - Use drawings you made in the Notes app or other drawing apps.
- Nature Scenes - Beautiful beaches, mountains, forests, or space images look amazing on the iPad screen.
Lock Screen vs. Home Screen
You might want different wallpapers for each screen! Some people use:
• A photo of themselves or family for the Lock Screen
• A simpler, less distracting image for the Home Screen where app icons will be
Automatic Wallpaper Changes
You can set up your iPad to change wallpapers automatically:
- Create a Photo Album - In the Photos app, create an album with all the pictures you want to use as wallpapers.
- Create a Shortcut - Use the Shortcuts app to create an automation that changes your wallpaper on a schedule.
Changing your wallpaper is a fun and easy way to personalize your iPad and make it feel like your own! Try changing it every few weeks to keep your iPad feeling fresh and new.
